Dilpasand Mutton


  • 1/4 cup ----------------------------- oil
  • 500 grams ------------------------- mutton cubed
  • l/2 cup ----------------------------- onions finely chopped
  • l teaspoon------------------------- salt
  • 8 green ---------------------------- cardamoms
  • l & 1/2 cups----------------------- yogurt whipped
  • 6 pieces --------------------------- cloves
  • 2 teaspoon------------------------ red chilly powder l/4 piece of nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoon------------------------ coriander powder
  • 2 pieces of ----------------------- mace
  • l teaspoon------------------------ kewra water
  • l small stick of------------------- cinnamon
  • l/2 teaspoon --------------------- saffron soaked in a l/4 cup of milk
  • l teaspoon------------------------ ginger / garlic



  1. Warmth the oil and fry the onions till they are light golden in colour.
  2. Remove with a slotted spoon and grind them together with the cardamoms, cloves, nutmeg and mace.
  3. Reheat the oil, placed the cinnamon, ginger / garlic, mutton pieces and salt.
  4. Fry till the meat is mild brown.
  5. Blend the ground onion mixture with the yogurt, purple cold powder and coriander powder.
  6. Put this to the meat and let it cook over a low heat till the meat is smooth.
  7. If required, add 1 cup of water to make gravy.
  8. Sprinkle the kewra water and saffron on it and permit it simmer for approximately 5 10 minutes till the oil floats on pinnacle.
