Ingredients

  • Freshly cooked short grain rice 4 cups
  • Eggs (optional) 4
  • Zucchini- cut into thin strips 1
  • Carrot- cut into thin strips 1
  • Spinach leaves, sliced 10
  • Garlic crushed 1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Sirloin beef 8 oz
  • Soy sauce 2 tbsp
  • Garlic 1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil 1 tbsp
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Freshly ground black pepper 1/2 tbsp
  • For the daikon salad:
  • Daikon radish, halved & sliced into thin strips
  • Ground red pepper 1 tbsp
  • Minced garlic 1 tbsp
  • Sugar to taste
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Chilli bean paste
  • Sesame oil (optional)

     

METHOD

  • Prepare the vegetables by blanching in boiling water, drain and toss with the crushed garlic, sesame oil and salt.

  • Prepare the salad by coating the daikon well with the ground pepper, and then tossing gently with remaining ingredients.

  • In a non-stick pan, fry the beef till color changes.

  • Combine the other ingredients for the beef, in a bowl, and add the meat to it.

  • Fill four bowls with rice.

  • Add the vegetables, beef and daikon salad.

  • If desired, top up with an egg, sunny side up.

  • Serve with chilli bean paste on the side.
